How we review — and how we make money
Short version: some links on Chesspert are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the retailer pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing, and it's how the site stays running.
How we pick what to recommend
- Few picks, clearly ranked. Most buying questions have two or three good answers, not fifteen. We'd rather tell you our pick and why than pad a list.
- Hands-on where possible, honest where not. When we haven't handled a product ourselves, we say so, and we lean on club players, coaches, and long-term owner reports instead.
- Commissions never set the ranking. Our picks are chosen first; links are added after. If the best answer is "the cheap one" or "don't buy anything yet", that's what we write.
- Prices are checked, and dated. Price notes on product cards say when we last checked, so you know how fresh they are.
Who we link to
Mostly Amazon, plus specialist retailers and learning platforms like Chessable and Chess.com where they're genuinely the best place to buy or learn. Every affiliate link is marked with rel="sponsored" so search engines know it too.
Corrections
Spotted something wrong or outdated? Tell us and we'll fix it. Being a small site means we can correct things the same week, not next year.
